Fall colors. Drums in the distance. Cool breezes. The scent of pumpkin. It must be high school marching band season again!
Dixie Heights Marching Colonels returned to the homecoming parade after a lengthy (17 years?) hiatus. We don’t know what happened the last time the band marched in he hoco parade, or maybe we just don’t talk about it.
Just one thing is certain: it won’t be 17 more years before DHMB marches in another homecoming parade. This one was a lot of fun, and the photos bear that out.
Of course, parades are more of a side hustle for the competitive marching band. Dixie just placed seventh at the Kentucky Music Educators Association state semifinals, missing the finals cutoff by less than two points. Their 80.35-point score makes this the band’s best showing ever in KMEA semifinals competition.
